Greetings digital companions! I have a short story to share with you.
In 2017 I felt the urge to better my versatility as a musician, I really wanted to become proficient at playing the piano. Upon arriving in Canada I started the process of transferring my musical knowledge of the fretboard, to a keyboard. During this time I would create simple idea’s and motifs that would express how I was feeling at the time.
I love how you can freeze a moment in time, whether it be a photograph or a personal memory attached with a song. Throughout my travels I kept writing and refining these song ideas. Since returning to New Zealand in early 2019 I began compiling my favourite and most special songs in order to them share with the world.
While attending a house party in Vancouver a wise human told me “everything is just rhythm and resonance”. It’s safe to say that the quote resonated with me as I decided to use it as the title of my debut solo release. I’ve chosen to release ‘RHYTHM AND RESONANCE’ under the name ‘CASHEK’. This name came from a song I was writing, and I needed to save the project file. I looked around my desk and saw a bag of cashews. I wanted to make it sound more exotic and ambiguous, so I replaced the W with a K. A bonus is that the name sounds like 'Kashyyyk', the planet where wookies originate from in Star Wars.
Every song on this album has something special attached to it and I tried expressing my internal emotions as much as my production skills would allow. I’m excited that these songs are now out and about in the universe, please enjoy at your leisure!
